Dad's French Toast

For as long as I remember, my Dad has always made the best french toast. It's a great addition to a brunch, and he serves it with scrambled eggs, bacon and of course hot coffee.

The only thing I've always added to his recipe is, well, a mimosa ;-)

Dad's French Toast
by Michelle Maskaly, The Adirondack Chick

3 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
10-12 slices of bread
maple syrup

Combine the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla in a shallow dish and beat until everything is mixed well.

Heat a large electric griddle, or skillet. Coat it with butter and then wipe off the excess. Dip both sides of the bread in the egg mixture and place on the griddle.

Cook until the bottom is brown, flip and cook until the other side is brown. Serve with butter and warm maple syrup.

Enjoy!

  6. Yummy. We love French toast and use pretty much this exact recipe. Whenever we have left over baguettes, we slice it up and put it in the freezer, then turn it into French bread. It's a great way to use up bread that we'd otherwise usually not have much use for.
