Ice Diving Near Lake George

We spent most of this weekend freezing our you know whats off watching my friend's husband ice dive in Lake Luzerne, a short 15 minute drive from Lake George Village. Boy was it cold, but it was also a ton of fun!

Les, who frequently scuba dives, has been planning to take the weekend certification class at Rich Morin's Professional Scuba and Snorkel Centers for months. During a typical winter, the ice diving classes and demos take place on Lake George every weekend in February as part of the Lake George Winter Carnival. But, this year since the lake didn't freeze over, they had to find an alternative place to take the classes.

Luckily, Lake Luzerne was frozen.

Although I would never do it, it was so interesting to watch! In addition to taking photos -- while trying to still keep my hands warm --  I shot some Touts to document the process. {In case you're wondering, Tout is a new social video network where you can capture short, 15 second moments of life -- if you can't tell already, I'm a big fan of the service. Think Twitter meets YouTube, but easy.}
















I have to add, the guys from Rich Morin's dive shop were awesome. If you're thinking of diving anywhere near the Lake George or Adirondack area, go to them. They were so friendly, took time to explain what they were doing and Les said they were great instructors, too.
